To impact the geographic community of Michiana with the life-changing love of God and to build a high level of community among 6th-12th grade students.

Summer of Service (SOS), is a life-changing experience that takes place right here in our own community. It’s a collaborative effort between area churches to impact our community with the love of Jesus.

Students from incoming 6th-graders through graduating seniors are invited to participate in a 4-day, 3-night local outreach weekend. The vision of the SOS Student Weekend is to impact Michiana with the life-changing love of God while developing a student community among the participants.

Our goal is that every student is impacted and changed as they encounter God through serving others. Along with serving the community, students will have multiple chances to continue to connect with God as they worship, gather for each session, and through general fellowship with their leaders and peers.

Summer of Service is a non-profit ministry that relies on the support of fundraisers, donations, and business partnerships.  Each church or group involved is asked to collect items (pop tarts, granola bars, individual bags of chips, plastic utensils, sunscreen, etc) to help offset weekend expenses and keep the registration fees as low as possible. Many churches participate or partner with SOS by donating church vans/buses to use for the weekend, sponsoring area Block Parties or sending groups of volunteers to take part in serving.  There is a place for everyone who wants to be a part of Summer of Service.

SOS Student Weekend is a collaborative effort and it is our desire to include everyone! Restaurants allow SOS to have fundraiser nights and we partner with local businesses and organizations for service projects. We host block parties and car washes, we visit nursing homes, fix up homes, clean up parks, serve meals, paint murals and more. We are always looking for ways to serve in our community as well as building relationships.

Please contact us if you feel led to be a part of SOS by supporting us financially, itemized donations or actually participating in SOS. It’s quite an ordeal to bring together everything needed for an amazing ministry. A ministry designed to unite congregations, students, and volunteers while building a stronger community through serving and showing God’s love in real practical ways!
