Summer of Service aka SOS Student Weekend, is a life-changing experience that takes place right in Michiana.

Summer Of Service (SOS) is a collaborative effort between area churches and community partnership to impact Michiana with the love of Jesus. We do this through various service projects and kindness activities.
The vision of the SOS Student Weekend movement is two-fold:
To impact the community of Michiana with the life-changing love of God, and to develop a heightened student-community among participants. Our desire is that students will encounter God in a very new way through service and kindness outreach. It’s a fact that youth grow in their faith journey when they put their faith to work for others. What are the ingredients of the powerful retreat? Intimate worship, amazing teaching, creative service opportunities, prayer, group discussion, devotions, and a healthy dose of play!
To impact the geographic community of Michiana with the life-changing love of God and to build a high level of community among 6th-12th grade students.

What’s Happening with SOS This Year
This year looks a little different for SOS.
Despite our efforts, we were unable to secure a host location for an in-person SOS Student Weekend. While we’re disappointed we won’t all be gathered together in one place, we believe this season creates space for something meaningful and mission-focused.
SOS Hometown: Serving Where You Are
This summer, we’re encouraging youth groups and churches to lean into SOS Hometown—serving right in your own communities.
The heart of SOS has always been about showing God’s love in real and practical ways. That mission doesn’t depend on one location. It happens wherever students step out to serve, love, and lead.
Whether you’re partnering with local organizations, serving neighbors, or joining with another church, SOS is still happening—just closer to home.
Find Others to Serve With
We encourage you to connect with another youth group in your area and serve together. Partnering with others can create meaningful experiences for students and strengthen unity across churches.
Looking Ahead to 2027
We’ll see you for SOS 2027 on June 17–19, 2027, hosted at Bethel University (Mishawaka).

SOS 2026
Summer of Service will resume on June 12th-14th, 2025!
Youth Groups with incoming 6th graders through graduating seniors are invited to participate in the SOS initive. Join in on serving and showing God’s love to our Michiana community.
Our host site this year will be Bethel University – giving students the opportunity to develop community within their own youth groups and with other students from Michiana as they stay the night on campus.
